Gigawave

Overview
Gigawave is a concept project that explores a new design language for wake surf craft, built around one ambitious goal: producing the largest wake surf wave ever made. Rather than refining the shapes and proportions the industry already accepts, I started from the wave and worked backward, letting it drive the hull form, stance, proportions and overall character of the craft. The result is a bold, purpose-driven aesthetic in which every line blends retro heritage, playful energy, cutting-edge innovation and a natural connection to the ocean. Gigawave imagines what a wake surf craft could look like if it were designed first and foremost as a wave machine, pushing the boundaries of the sport and redefining what riders could expect behind the boat.

Contribution
I led the Gigawave concept from first sketch to final form, defining both the design language and the brand. I explored how hull form, displacement and proportion could work together to shape a bigger, cleaner wave, then carried those ideas into the craft’s stance, surfaces and details so the performance goal reads in every line. I also led the branding, developing the Gigawave name, identity and brand principles so that the visual identity and the craft tell the same story. The concept was developed through sketches, 3D models, profile and plan views and lifestyle visualizations, building a cohesive identity that ties the form of the craft directly to the wave it is meant to create.

Outcome
Gigawave delivers a distinctive design language for a new kind of wake surf craft, one that looks as powerful as the wave it is built to make. When the concept was showcased online, the website went viral, and the project was featured by major media outlets including Motor Boat & Yachting, Robb Report, Yahoo News, duPont Registry and Stab Magazine. The concept shows how starting with a single, ambitious performance goal can produce a fresh and coherent aesthetic, setting it apart from conventional wake boat design. This project highlights my expertise in marine design, from translating a performance vision into form to building a complete, cohesive design language for a new craft.
